From January 1th 2010 we have successfully blocked:
803 spammers from accessing the Jabber/XMPP network via the JabberLive.org server.
84 of these were reported for being new or unknown spammers.
JabberLive! is one of few Jabber/XMPP servers that is actively fighting spam. Only real human beings are allowed to register a Jabber ID with us. We don't have an automatic registration system. All registrations are thoroughly checked before they get accepted and a Jabber ID generated and activated.
The statistics above show how many known spammers have tried to access and register with our service. These spammers are blocked automatically upon registration by checking known-spammer-databases available on the net. Spammers try to avoid getting in these databases by constantly changing the computers they use and thus their IP addresses. They also change their user names and e-mail addresses. Some of these spammers get blocked nevertheless based on one or two criteria. Once in a while they manage to get fully registered with our service. However we can successfully block and delete these spammer accounts based on a range of tests that we off course cannot make public.
